Unseen – The never-seen photos of Vivian Maier

Coming from The Fotografiska show in New York Vertigo Syndrome brings THE BIGGEST EXHIBITION EVER DEDICATED TO VIVIAN MAIER to theReggia di Monza.

More than 200 color and black-and-white prints, plus contact sheets, original audio recordings with the photographer’s voice and Super 8 footage, visible FOR THE FIRST TIME only in this exhibition.

A formidable exploration of the particular human and artistic story of the pioneering street photographer, tracing the themes and subjects characteristic of her style: from the working classes to marginalized communities, providing a testament to the “dark side of the American dream” that reflects a changing nation.

A journey through time and a worldview without innocence, with children looking lived-in and adults looking fatigued even in their leisure time. But also the art of photography seen as an outlet, used to express one’s emotions through images brimming with humanity, a sense of humor and beauty.
As with all exhibitions curated by Vertigo Syndrome, the exhibition is enriched by a series of side events that include art workshops, lectures on the history of photography, workshops for children and other various initiatives closely related to the world of photography and the image in general.

To complete the knowledge of the photographer and her work, visitors to the exhibition will be invited to enter a special room where they will try the immersive experience of Being Vivian Maier…
